Picture inspection are often difficult for staff that are unfamiliar with picture procedures and lacking baseline and complete pictures that properly show the entire system(s). These inspections with pictures or even in person are even difficult for the trained eye. Here are pictures from an inspection last week at a job that required pictures. The first picture was taken looking down the vertical stack that was sent to the FM. This view looks very clean. However, the unscrupulous companies would never send the following clear pictures taken by the inspector looking up from the hood that shows all 4 sides and exposing what is hidden from above. From the perspective in the second picture taken by the inspector, we see things quite differently than what we saw from above. They did the same exact thing for another exhaust system in the following 2 pictures. The main issue is that the fire danger is most pronounced in the lower sections right above the cooking equipment. Not to mention that the lower sections have more heat and cures the grease that is left onto the metal to make it even more difficult to clean in the future.
